2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep them secure and to help owners understand how their sites are used.

We also use similar technologies such as:

  • Local storage / session storage – browser-based storage used to remember settings or state.
  • Pixels, tags and scripts – small pieces of code that help us measure usage, improve performance and run our marketing campaigns.

In this Cookie Notice, we refer to all of these technologies together as “cookies”.

3. How we use cookies at ZestScout (AI SaaS)

ZestScout is an AI-powered SaaS product. We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep you securely signed in while you use the web app
  • remember your preferences (for example language, default settings, saved configurations)
  • understand how visitors and customers use our website and AI features
  • improve the performance, reliability and usability of our product
  • run privacy-aware analytics and marketing campaigns

We group cookies into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies
  • Analytics and performance cookies
  • Functional cookies
  • Marketing and advertising cookies

4. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Services to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set only in response to actions made by you, such as:

  • logging into your account
  • maintaining your session across pages
  • remembering your cookie choices
  • protecting against fraud and abuse (for example, security logs, rate limiting)

Without these cookies, core features of the website and app will not work properly.

Legal basis (EEA/UK/Switzerland): Our legitimate interest in providing a secure, functional service and/or performing a contract with you.

5. Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website and app so that we can measure and improve their performance. For example, analytics cookies can show:

  • which pages are visited most often
  • how users move through sign-up and onboarding flows
  • how often certain AI features or templates are used in aggregate

We may use third-party analytics tools for this purpose. These tools may collect information such as your IP address (often in truncated or pseudonymised form), device type, browser, referring URLs and information about your interactions with the website and app.

Legal basis (EEA/UK/Switzerland): Your consent, where required by law. If you do not provide consent, analytics cookies will not be used.

6. Functional cookies

Functional cookies allow the website and app to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may:

  • remember your in-app preferences and settings
  • help keep feature flags and experiments consistent during a session
  • support customer support or chat tools, if we offer them

If you do not allow these cookies, some services may not function properly.

Legal basis (EEA/UK/Switzerland): Your consent where required by law, or our legitimate interest in providing a stable and user-friendly service.

7. Marketing and advertising cookies

These cookies are used to:

  • measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns
  • understand which channels bring engaged users to ZestScout
  • show you relevant ZestScout ads on other websites or platforms

We may work with advertising partners that use cookies or similar technologies to recognise your device and deliver ads for ZestScout when you visit other websites, apps or platforms.

In some jurisdictions, this may be considered “targeted advertising” or a “sale” / “sharing” of personal information.

Legal basis (EEA/UK/Switzerland): Your consent. If you do not provide consent, these cookies will not be used.

8. How we obtain and manage your consent

When required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing cookies (other than strictly necessary cookies) on your device. This typically happens through a cookie banner or pop-up when you first visit our website.

Depending on how you interact with the banner, you may be able to:

  • accept all cookies
  • reject non-essential cookies
  • choose specific categories (for example, allow analytics but not marketing cookies)

You can usually change your cookie preferences at any time by revisiting the banner or using a “Cookie Settings” link where provided. If that option is not available, you can manage cookies through your browser settings (see section 9 below).

9. Cookies we use

The specific cookies used on our website and app may change over time as we improve or update our Services.

Typical information stored by cookies includes:

  • cookie name
  • cookie provider (first-party or third-party)
  • purpose of the cookie
  • cookie category (essential, analytics, functional, marketing)
  • expiry / retention period

If we provide a detailed cookie table or settings panel on the website, it will show the most up-to-date list of cookies in use.

10. How to control cookies in your browser

In addition to any settings provided on our website, you can manage cookies directly through your browser. Most browsers allow you to:

  • see which cookies are stored and delete them
  • block third-party cookies
  • block cookies from specific websites
  • block all cookies
  • delete all cookies when you close your browser

Instructions for managing cookies can usually be found in your browser’s “Help”, “Privacy” or “Security” settings. If you block or delete cookies, some features of our website or app (especially login and session-related features) may not work correctly.

11. International transfers and third-party providers

Some of the third-party providers that set or receive cookie-based data may be located outside the EEA/UK/Switzerland, for example in the United States.

When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as:

  • participation in relevant data transfer frameworks, where applicable, and/or
  • Standard Contractual Clauses together with additional technical and organisational measures.

For more information about international transfers and our subprocessors, please refer to our Privacy Policy:
https://www.zestscout.com/legal/privacy-policy

12. Cookies and AI features

Our AI features themselves do not directly store your prompts or outputs in cookies. However:

  • cookies may remember certain preferences (for example, tone, language, favourite templates) to make your AI workflows smoother
  • usage analytics may measure how AI features are used in aggregate (for example, which templates are most popular) to help us improve relevance and performance

Any personal data processed as part of your AI usage is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and our data-processing agreements with infrastructure and analytics providers.

13. Changes to this Cookie Notice

We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time, for example if:

  • we introduce new cookies or tools
  • our legal obligations change
  • we adjust how our AI features and analytics work

When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Where appropriate, we may also inform you about significant changes through the website, in-app notifications or by email.
